A Message from the Director

"Whoever touches the child touches the most sensitive point of a whole which has roots in the most distant past and climbs toward the infinite future. Whoever touches the child touches the vital and delicate point where all can be renewed, where all is pulsating with life, where the secrets of the soul lay hidden. To work consciously for the child and to go deep down, with the tremendous intention of understanding him, would be to conquer the secrets of mankind, just as so many secrets of nature have been conquered in the world around us. The activity of the child has always been looked upon as an expression of his vitality. But his activity is really the work performed in building up the man he is to become. It is the incarnation of the human spirit." - Dr. Maria Montessori

2014 marks Montessori School of Ruston’s (lovingly known as Wildflower Montessori) 29th year of providing authentic Montessori education in a loving and nurturing environment to Lincoln Parish.  It is a privilege and honor to be a living instrument in serving our children, parents and staff for the past 25 years.  My ten years of teaching experience in the Montessori classroom opened my heart and spirit to the real meaning of being a teacher. I believe deeply in the value of teachers´ work.  I commend their dedication, commitment and love for children.

Being a Montessori teacher is the noblest profession with the highest intrinsic rewards.  Montessori School of Ruston’s teachers are the pride and the soul of the school.  It is my desire to inspire them, support them and lead them to continue implementing the principles and philosophies of Dr. Montessori.

Montessori School of Ruston would never have been founded and would not exist today if not for the time, talent and resources provided by parents.  We are thrilled to have involved parents working alongside our staff, administration, and board, and helping to make our school the very best it can be! Our PTG plans special events, aids in fundraising, and supports our staff in various ways.  All parents of enrolled children are considered a vital part of our PTG.  Please join us in the fun and fellowship that an active, vibrant, PTG can offer.

If you are seeking information about our programs, welcome!  Please take a moment to look over our website.  You will find our mission and a glimpse of how our programs operate.  There’s also a waiting list application that you can download and print at your convenience.  Additionally, we’d love to visit with you and give you a school tour.  Give us a call in the school office (318.251.1590).

To our Montessori families, we hope that you’ll use this web site regularly.  We plan to post often about upcoming events and let you know about school-wide and classroom information.  You’ll also be able to download forms, permission slips, and view our school calendar.  We hope that this will become your “go to” source for MSR information.

As always - thank you for trusting us with your children.  We have an open door policy, and we encourage you to join hands with us to partner in the education of your child.  Your insight and suggestions are invaluable.

Most Sincerely,

Renée Hunt
