About MSR

Welcome from the Head of School

We Would Love to Meet You!

Thank you for visiting Montessori School of Ruston website! We always enjoy sharing information about our school and Montessori education with our community.
As you peruse our site, we hope you find the information you are looking for. Our school has been serving the Ruston community for over 30 years. We maintain local (Louisiana Montessori Association) accreditation and national (American Montessori Society) pathways recognition as a full member Montessori school working towards full AMS accreditation as an educational institution for Toddler through Eighth grade. We are currently growing our student body, which is around 50, and our full-time staff of 10.

Montessori education has been thriving around the world for more than 100 years. Current research validates the effectiveness of the Montessori Method over time and several key elements of the approach meet the educational needs of our time. These include a strong sense of self, the ability to connect with others, to work collaboratively and creatively, and the discipline to work independently. At MSR we believe the early years (birth through age 6) are a critical time to set a strong foundation for who a child will become and the role she or he will play in the future. Our Montessori programs start at age 12 months (and walking) and continue through age 15 years (8th grade).

At MSR we strive to set up an environment that will nurture students to thrive at the developmental phase they are currently in and as they continue to advance towards their full potential. Each environment is created intentionally to cultivate development at the specific level of the students it serves. Our Montessori certified staff has a unique and in depth understanding of the developmental needs of children and is ready and equipped to support and nurture their development in all areas: physical, intellectual, spiritual and social.

Our school also has a focus on community. We endeavor to create a community which supports parents in their role in their child's development. Becoming a part of Montessori School of Ruston connects you to a community of like-minded parents intentionally raising children who will use their talents and education to bring goodness to our world. If you are intrigued by what you see here, then I invite you to come and visit us to find out more about our amazing school!

Sincerely,
Dr. Amanda Walker
